The discount medical plan is a type of low-cost health insurance that was first offered to the employees of companies associated with the Consumer Health Alliance. This plan is gaining popularity because it offers coverage to healthcare needs without the accompanying medical history, eclusions, limitations or paperwork that are often associated with health insurance plans. In case you already have a health insurance plan, you can still enroll in this type of low-cost health insurance plan. The discount medical plan often offers dental and vision care, prescription drug coverage, chiropractic benefits, and other supplementary services. The supplementary coverage packages are generally affordable and usually complement health insurance plans. A minimal monthly membership fee is required to enroll in a discount medical plan. This fee is used to gain access to the wholesale rates of medical services which are also being given to large health insurance companies. If you visit a network-accredited doctor or have a laboratory eam in a network-accredited hospital, the member pays the discounted fee for the service. On the part of the healthcare providers, they are immediately paid for the medical services they provided without filing the necessary paperwork to insurance companies. Comprehensive discount medical plans are offered to those who don’t have health insurance at all. The packages consist of doctors’ visits, consultations with specialists, laboratory eams, dental care, vision care, prescription drugs, chiropractic benefits, and hospitalization. A discount medical plan is a type of low-cost health insurance that is offered to Americans who are not qualified for Medicaid or not earning enough to buy insurance plans with high premiums. This is also an option for those who cannot afford the 10-15% increase in the amounts of co-pays and monthly premiums of health insurance plans today. Discount Health Card Plans are not to be considered as a low cost health INSURANCE!

They are simply a Discount Card Plan for Healthcare Services. They are simply a way for consumers or Businesses, to provide and for you to save money as a member to be able to receive a discounted rate at the time of service by a participating provider. Which in most cases will save you out of pocket expenses for healthcare services. Depending on the Plan you choose from the Company of your choice. If your Rep, is a reputable person, and most Reps know that they are not to state these plans in any way as INSURANCE.
