Short-term health insurance applications typically don’t go through an underwriting review process by an actual underwriter. They are quick applications in which you answer just a few questions. If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, you are not eligible. One of these questions in “now pregnant, and epectant parent, in the process of adopting a child or undergoing infertility treatment.” As you may have read in similar questions addressed in this forum, the insurance carriers are forced by law to include a newborn child on the eisting policy of either parent. I understand that you are only requiring 60 days of coverage, but there could still be a potential risk with a premature birth. You might try contacting a short-term health insurance carrier directly and ask if there is a way to bypass the standard application process and submit through an underwriter for review, but we doubt they will be very receptive since it is outside of standard protocol.
