Had coverage gap but starting new job. Any problems getting group coverage?

I was laid off two years ago and when my insurance ran out I couldn't afford to replace it so I've had a lapse in coverage for about two years. Luckily I haven't had any major health issues. I am starting a new job on Sept. 1st -- will there be any problems getting covered under my new employers group coverage?

As long as you meet the requirements for an eligible employee, you can’t be denied inclusion on the Delaware Small Business plan because you have not had recent health insurance coverage. Your employer may have a probationary period of employment before you are eligible to enroll in the group health plan, and they may also have minimum work hour requirements. Since you have not been insured for the past two years, the insurance company can eclude benefits for any pre-eisting for a period of 12 months. Since you are still at least si weeks away from having health insurance, you might consider purchasing a short-term health insurance policy for this limited period of time. There are many Delaware short-term health insurance plans available, and you can search for an agent on HealthInsuranceFinders.com that can provide you with options and rates.
