Health Insurance companies are saying I do not meet eligibility…

I have been on Medicaid for the past two years and have lost my eligibility status. Insurance companies are telling me that I do not meet eligibility criteria because I am not coming from an employer based group plan. Do I not qualify because Medicaid is sponsored by the federal government?

We can't be certain why you do not qualify for health insurance because it is not clear as to what type of insurance you are trying to acquire. Having been told that you would need to show previous coverage under and employer sponsored group health would suggest that you are trying to apply for guaranteed issue coverage under HIPAA regulations. This could be through a high-risk pool in your state are guaranteed options direct through an insurance company. Can you confirm what type of policy are are trying to acquire? Do you have pre-eisting medical conditions that are affecting your ability to apply for standard issue Individuals? — June 9, 2009 @ 4:10 pm
