The Aetna NJ Group # 108902 is a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan that is offered to those who first become newly eligible or was reinstated from a prior insurance coverage period through his/her employment, in addition to living in the specified HMO service area in the state. This plan is also offered to eligible individuals during the Annual Open Enrollment Period of the Health Fund every November of each year. The coverage effective date for this enrollment period is on January 1, the first day of the following year. It is not advisable for you to select an Aetna NJ HMO plan if you know that you will be traveling etensively during the period of your health coverage. Remember, that you are supposed to receive medical care from a physician or health care provider from an HMO’s facilities or are affiliated with HMO. Services that you will get from a non-HMO affiliate will not be covered by the HMO plan. In general, Coordination of Benefits is not allowed with an HMO. So if you already have Primary health coverage through another plan, the HMO will not provide you with coverage. You should then choose a CIGNA Open Access Plus Plan if an HMO is not available to you.
