Check the dates of coverage carefully and clarify it with the agent or the carrier, just to be on the safe side. Your medical health plan should have provisions on emergencies. Before leaving the country, keep your documents in check and entrust it to someone who can be contacted immediately. They should also have the responsibility to authorize major health provisions and services when you need it. You might want to check your coverage against the insurance practices in your country of destination you are going. Research travel and health advisories or even ask the embassy for such things. This is a precautionary measure so you will come prepared for anything. However, try not to make any unnecessary changes in your plan or worse, change companies and plan at the last minute.
