A retiree in the US shall receive Medicare benefit according to a law signed on July 30, 1965 by former President Lyndon B. Johnson as an amendment to the Social Security laws. Through Medicare, a US senior citizen and other qualified disabled individuals will receive financial support and related benefits to cover their medical needs. A Medicare benefit will be given not only to those who have reached the retirement age of 65 years but also to individuals with disability who are able to meet the standards set by the Social Security Agency. In general, individuals with disability still have to reach their retirement age regardless of their financial status to get benefits. To qualify, he/she should file an initial claim for title II benefits also known as the Social Security disability benefits to the Social Security Administration office. Medicare essentially provides Part A to Part D benefits. Part A covers hospital visits and stays in nursing homes. Part B covers outpatient services such as laboratory reports, doctors’ visits and -rays. Part D covers prescription drugs and is only offered to those who are already eligible for Part A and B benefits. If you are having some difficulties in applying for Medicare benefit, then you can ask the help of a qualified Social Security lawyer to help you pursue your claims. This will ensure that you are able to get sufficient financial assistance from the government. -- June 30, 2009 @ 1:20 pm
