A retiree in the US shall receive Medicare benefit according to a law signed on July 30, 1965 by former President Lyndon B. Johnson as an amendment to the Social Security laws. Through Medicare, a US senior citizen and other qualified disabled individuals will receive financial support and related benefits to cover their medical needs. A Medicare benefit will be given not only to those who have reached the retirement age of 65 years but also to individuals with disability who are able to meet the standards set by the Social Security Agency. Part D covers prescription drugs and is only offered to those who are already eligible for Part A and B benefits.
