I can briefly eplain to you the different Medicare health plans available so you'll have an idea. Basically, all plans across the country are the same. All plans follow the template established by Medicare, but there are usually additional benefits in most plans depending on the insurance companies offering them. You should know that you have a couple of Medicare health options with the various supplement plans. There are plans from A to J and a plan called select C', but not all companies offer all these plans. The co-pays and what drugs are included in the plan will be different from company to company, but the coverage is usually the same. The coverage of Plan J with one insurance company for eample is the same with another company; it's only the premium that's different. Also keep in mind that Part D prescription drug coverage is not included in any Medicare supplement insurance. Several companies offer Part D as a stand-alone policy, so you have the option to get it if you need it. Another option for a Medicare health plan is Medicare Part C or Medicare Advantage plan. The various types of Medicare Advantage plans include those from an HMO, a POS, a PPO, a PFFS, an SNP, and an MSA. These types work differently and have different additional benefits. If you need to have Part D, then you can choose a Medicare Advantage plan that includes Part D. Being able to consult with doctors who accept Medicare is the major advantage of having a Medicare health plan. The premiums, however, might be a problem for you if you have Medicare. Premiums are bound to change depending on your state and your plan. You can check with a local insurance agent regarding the different Medicare health insurance plans in your area. - June 18, 2009 @ 9:25 am'
