Medical health insurance plans generally comes in three types: Regular Health Insurance, Basic Health Insurance and Major Medical Insurance.  The rest are just variations. Basic Health Insurance as commonly defined covers basic health care for injuries, minor accidents and common illnesses.  Compared to a regular plan, however, this usually has limited coverage of hospitals and doctors which also accounts for its low price.  This type of medical health insurance doesn't generally include doctor visits, and prescriptions. Major Medical Health Insurance, on the other hand, covers treatment for unforeseen major accidents and health condition.  Commonly known as catastrophic insurance, this type of medical health insurance usually pays for the widest range of available services. A Limited Benefit Insurance generally provides discounted rates for every covered benefit.  This may even come in a very low premium. Usually this type of insurance covers less than what you are paying for. If you are considerably young and healthy and requires a medical health insurance only as a sort of a backup in cases of emergency, then a Major Medical Health Insurance is generally the best affordable option you have.  This medical health insurance usually has lower premiums because of the low risk. However, if you frequently use medical services and still consider affordability in your purchase you may consider Basic Health Insurance. You decide the affordability and significance of your medical health insurance.  Factors such as your state, age, health condition, covered benefits as well as how much you will participate on your health care with the insurance company determine the affordability of your medical health insurance. You need to consult the assistance of a local agent to guide you through the process of purchasing health insurance.  He may even provide you with good options in consideration to your needs and profile. - June 3, 2009 @ 2:49 pm

It all depends on what you need. Major medical is more comprehensive, but it's also more expensive. Limited benefit - just like the name implies - has fixed coverage amounts that have a lower ceiling than major medical policies.

Check out iCanBenefit - you'll find all the insurance options you need, along with information about which plan is right for your needs and budget.
