Moved to Alaska from Virginia need to change coverage but not feeling well

My family and I have moved to Alaska from Virginia in the past couple of weeks where we have Anthem BCBS family (not group) coverage. My intention was to buy a new policy once we arrived. I'm not feeling well and would like to go to the doctor but I'm concerned that, if it turned out something serious was wrong, we won't be able to buy a policy here and my Virginia policy may cancel because we're no longer living there. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly apreciated.

Have you tried contacting Anthem to tell them you moved? Many BCBS carriers will offer you a similar plan in your new state and typically guaranteed issue.
