Any member of the family who moves outside of the service area of a current Medicare health plan is entitled to transfer to any Medicare health plan provided on the place he/she is going. In the case of your mother going out of New York, she can make this change at the time she moves in. A special enrollment period will be allotted for her where she can sign up for a Medicare health plan available in the state she is moving to. Most seniors, however, prefer the original Medicare plans (Plan A and B) for their health needs. Aside from being available to almost anywhere, these Medicare health plans have an unfailing support of almost all health providers. - June 3, 2009 @ 5:01 pm
