No Medical Insurance in Need of Medication for Depression…

I am currently under anti-depressant medications. I used to have insurance under my family's health plan. Now that I have no medical insurance, I don not have an idea how much a doctor's consultation as well as prescription drugs cost. What is the going rate?

If there is no immediate need for you to see the doctor, you may want to get an insurance policy first since you have no medical insurance yet. Living with no medical insurance is generally not advisable especially to those who may need to see the doctor frequently. However, if you cannot pay for a medical insurance, why don't you check with your local social services and see if you qualify for any kind of help. With no medical insurance, a consultation with a doctor may cost you something around $150. Or you can check with your doctor, the one who prescribed you the anti-depressants. Your medications may probably cost around $200 a month. It will most likely depend on what type of medicines is prescribed to you. Check with your local pharmacy, some offer medicines at discounted price. Your state's social services may have something to offer to help aside from finances. Because you are on anti-depressants, there may be many help for you. There may also be help lines to find people who are willing to listen. They may even help you seek other forms of help.
