We are not familiar with the acceptance guidelines of every single provider of Medicare Supplement insurance. However, with her current medical condition and the fact that she has already been rejected by three companies, it would not seem likely that any insurance company will accept her outside of the open enrollment period. You may wonder why they decline her, and the answer is quite simple – because they can. If any person that is a Medicare recipient does not enroll in a supplement plan during the first 6 months of becoming Medicare eligible, insurance companies have the right to choose which applicants they will accept and which they will not. She can join a Medicare Advantage plan during the annual open enrollment period from November 15th to December 31st, and coverage will start on January 1st of the following year. You may wish to contact the Medicaid office in Indiana to inquire if she is eligible for assistance in paying the medical epenses that are not covered by Medicare. You can contact them at indianamedicaid.com to search for a field consultant in your area. - June 10, 2009 @ 7:59 pm
