There are several Washington state health insurance plans offered by the local government for low-income individuals who want to have health insurance. Individuals with very few resources or don’t have any other options can turn to their state government for programs designed especially for their needs. Washington state health insurance has programs like the Washington Basic Health program which essentially offers low-cost health care coverage to residents who are not eligible for Medicare. You can get these health insurance plans from private companies at reduced rates. You will be assessed based on your financial status to see if you really cannot afford a private health plan. Aside from income or financial resources, age, family size and the type of health plan you choose determine the monthly premium. If you have kids, you can apply for CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program). Any adult living with an uninsured child can apply for this state-funded low-cost health insurance for children. Washington is one of the few states who have high-risk pool for individuals who were denied a health insurance plan because of a pre-eisting condition. Check with the state insurance department how you can send the application form for assessment. The processing usually takes two weeks depending on the rules set by your state. Before asking for more information on Washington state health insurance plans, make sure that you know what you or your family needs so you’ll have an idea which plan to choose. - June 26, 2009 @ 2:50 pm
