Aside from it being pre-taed, a Health Savings Account (HSA) is accumulated over the years as long as the contributor does not use it. A Health Savings Account is created to complement an individual’s health insurance. Most people who get a Health Savings Account are those who pay low month premium for their insurance plans. People who are physically fit and do not have a history of any serious disease generally comprise those who choose to maintain a Health Savings Account. Since the money rolls over year after year, and most sickness occur when older, they can use up the money at the time of their need. It is different from a regular health insurance which only covers certain diseases and can only be used at a certain point in time. The funds in a Health Savings Account can be used in itemized deductions which are defined as consultations and treatment with a doctor, surgeons, psychologists, and insurance premiums, prescription fees, and medical equipment needed by the patient to function normally. However, the use of the funds in a Health Savings Account also has its limits. As the term implies, it can only be used to any medical care ecept for health club memberships, non-prescription drugs, and vitamins. In the event that cosmetic surgery is necessary as a result of an accident or any unfortunate incident, the funds in a Health Savings Account may be withdrawn. As the use of a Health Savings Account is restricted to only medical needs, the contributor will be penalized with any withdrawal made and used with non-medical epenses. - June 19, 2009 @ 5:47 pm
