new insurance is denying coverage for a pre-existing condition in Iowa

never had problems before switching insurance due to job loss. the claims they are denying are not pre-existing. how can I fight them to pay these bills. i've never been without insurance so i thought that was part of the clause that they can't deny coverage. I have fibro, chronic fatigue syndrome, and barrettes esophagus.

You will need to provide a certificate of creditable coverage from your prior carrier to your new carrier. They will apply the length of time you had coverage to the pre-existing period. If you've never been without insurance, no pre-x will apply.
